Canadian Sport for Life
The purpose of the Sport for Life movement is to improve the quality of sport and physical activity in Canada. It links sport, education, recreation, health and aligns with community, provincial and national programming.
National Coaching Certificate Program (NCCP)
The National Coaching Certification Program is a coaching skill development training program open to all forms of coaches. The NCCP is offered through the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC).
The CAC is committed to raising the skills and importance of coaches and increasing their reach and influence. Through its programs, the CAC empowers coaches with knowledge and skills, promotes ethics, fosters positive attitudes, builds competence and increases the credibility and recognition of coaches.
Parks and Recreation Ontario
Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO) is a not-for-profit organization that promotes the health, social and environmental benefits of quality recreation and parks practices, resources and partnerships.
High Five®, founded by PRO, is Canada’s only comprehensive quality standard for children’s sport and recreation programs. It is based on five principles of healthy child development that are essential for quality programs; Caring Adult, Friends, Participation, Play and Mastery. The High Five training offered in Ontario ensures that sport and recreation practitioners develop a high level of knowledge and expertise in child development and provides the tools for enhancing and maintaining a high level of program quality. Organizations and individuals can be involved through training, becoming a registered High Five organization or an accredited organization. ParaSport Ontario was created to support the development and promotion of the Paralympic movement in Ontario. ParaSport Ontario promotes parallel opportunities in sport for athletes with a physical disability.
